Expectations

In the present Covid situation, it has been extremely difficult for any Government to run the show. That too when the public feels that the Government has an Alladin's chirag and it has to rub it and every problem will be solved. But is it really so simple?

First of all, we as citizens need to understand certain basic things. Running a Government is like running a big joint family. In that family too, it becomes difficult to make members agree with you. What if the members of this joint family comprise 1.35 Billion? It is more difficult than sky walking between two high rise buildings when a fall would mean a sure fatality. The job of the prime minister of this country is definitely extremely luring but it is only so from a distance. One finds the thorns when one wears the crown. Those who are managing big companies with may be 1000 or more employees  also know how difficult is is to take care of the employees?  Moreover, whatever, they do, employees never seem to be happy. They are like kids who want best of both the worlds-they want to eat the cake and have it too.

But kids do not act with logic. We learn to become analytical and use logic as we grow. So, why can not all such grown people understand that it is not the Government only which needs to run the show? The Government is not a physical entity as such. It is made of people like us. We need to support the Government by following rules. We need to know our duties too when we know about our rights.

But let us ask ourselves honestly. Does it happen like this? I am shocked when I find that a person talks of not touching the Indian flag and another person talks of approaching our enemy regarding Article 370. I am shocked when I find some people openly talking of breaking India. I am shocked when I find a state government arresting a journalist because he openly challenges it on his TV show. I am shocked when I hear that people accuse that EVMs were hacked in Bihar elections and that they had actually won. I, as a responsible citizen of India, can not comprehend it.

If any one in this country has any issue, he/she can always approach an appropriate court. The supreme court recently granted bail in the case of the above referred journalist. We are the greatest democracy in the world. But we need to first think within and find whether what we are doing is in national interest? It appears some people and parties are not understanding that there is a difference between the Prime Minister and the nation. Just for the sake of opposing every thing that Modi Ji does, they go to any extent, even if that causes harm to our nation. Same parties find EVMs are fine when they are the winners. But they start finding fault with the EVMs, Election Commission or the state administration instead of doing soul searching on why they are regularly failing? It can not be like "heads I win, tails you lose"

I feel that if one finds fault with the prime minister, one has the right to do so. But one should not synch the prime minister with the nation. Moreover, in some cases, one may feel that the p.m. is wrong. But if we think logically, he has been working on what had been promised in his party's manifesto. Based on that his party was voted to power. After that he got the bills passed in the Parliament. Only then those became acts. So, it is not that he is doing things in an autocratic manner. Of course, not all members of this large family may agree with him or his party. Many will differ and they have a right to differ. Our constitution permits them.

The rule of law prevails in this country. But we, citizens, also should do our duties honestly and then question the Government. Then the Government will also be in a better position to fulfil people's expectations. One has the right to dissent in this country but one can be decent even when showing dissent.
